tbabice13There were moments in the Arctic icebox where one fully expected to see an emperor penguin doing his happy feet dance on the other side of a tiny frosty glacier.
Snow World in Canal Walk, the first of its kind ever seen in South Africa, is a must for children and adults who are looking for some wonder and magic in their lives.
It is also the ideal place to experience a nippy winter in a sweltering hot summer.
“Nippy” is perhaps an understatement.
The temperature wasn’t so much “nippy” as it was piercingly penetrating and bitingly brisk.
The whole surreal undertaking will undoubtedly leave one cool memory in its place.
There were ice slides for everyone, ice thrones for the regal wannabes, ice climbing for the brave, ice sculpting for the curious and ice for snowmen.
Suffice to say ice was ever present in the icy world of blue fingers and goose bumps.
Gloves would have been handy.
The TygerBurger photographer’s index finger could not stop pressing the shutter release button, partly because of the myriad amount of magical moments and also his finger was frozen to the button itself.
To put the cherry on top of the ice cream cake, kids can have their picture taken with Santa Clause in a realistic frozen cave.
Snow World is a complete 300 m² indoor snow environment right in the middle of the shopping centre, which includes a play area for the little ones, a thrilling toboggan slide, a six-metre ice climbing wall and a toddler dragon slide.
It is open from10:00 to 22:00 every day until 6 January, so when the summer sun gets too much, there is only one place to go!
